Free Local Phone Number with Voicemail - post audio messages on your blog or MySpace

December 14th, 2006

This is a service that I absolutely love!  It’s called Private Phone and it’s free!  You can sign up for a free local telephone number, with voicemail. Your identity is always kept private, the phone calls always go directly to your voicemail, but you can be alerted via text message or email whenever you receive a call, or you can call in or visit their website and check your messages at your convenience.

Another cool thing is the ability to record voice messages that you can post on your website, blog or MySpace page.  You can save up to 10,000 voicemails which is enough for even the busiest road warrior.

A free private local phone number, free voicemail, free message alerts, free audio message posting to your blog or website, no credit card needed and there isn’t a contract….it’s a service that just can’t be beat.

Protect your identity with a free PrivatePhone number and voicemail. Sign up for Free!

ReviewMe

November 15th, 2006

Have you ever wanted to get paid to write? Well, this may be a very good resource for you. If you have a blog or web site, sign up for a free account at ReviewMe.com and if your site is accepted you will get paid to write reviews.

It seems like a great concept. Advertisers want to get the word out about their products and/or services. By allowing an objective third party to write a review it can provide them with constructive feedback and that much needed advertising. Although whether or not a paid review can be seen as objective is debatable.

The sign-up process is extremely easy. Once I finished the very short application, I was advised that my site had been approved. Once approved I was shown the price for each review, my payout will be 50% of the price they determined. A site can publish an unlimited number of reviews, leaving the potential for profit wide open. The price for reviews is recalculated monthly so I will have to wait to see whether or not that price will go up or down after participating in the service for a month.

The first review assignment was to review ReviewMe.com, so this is essentially a sponsored review.

I have tried a similar service and the topics that I was supposed to write about did not match my web site in the least. It was a battle trying to find a creative way to include the information they required in some cases. I would be given a URL and the text that should link to the URL. In one case I had to search to even find a reference to the text I was given once I followed the link. Writing about an obscure reference buried deep within a web page is not my idea of fun.

Without knowing the types of reviews that will be available, I don’t know if this will bring anything of interest to my blog or if I will make any money. I figured I would at least try it out and share my experience with you, in case this is something you were considering but wanted to know what to expect.

Podcast no-no’s

November 7th, 2006

One of the fastest growing forms of relaying information is via podcast. Podcasts are hot!  It doesn’t matter what you may be interested in, there’s a podcast out there relating to your interest.

The great thing is that podcasts are relatively simple to create and syndicate. As they become more and more popular you may find that the quality of podcasts can vary greatly.  Professional musicians, writers, actors and even casts of TV shows are podcasting.

If you’re interested in jumping into podcasting, you may want to take a look at this article by Neil Crespi. He has a top 10 list of things you must not do in podcasting. Podcasting is a simple, inexpensive way to disseminate information but if you really want to build up a following, taking the advice of others who have been successful will help put you on the same pathway to success.

Inexpensive web site/blog hosting

November 7th, 2006

If you have a web site or a blog, reliable web site hosting is a necessity. How can you expect repeat visitors if your site is frequently down, or if the site runs slow?

Not only that, but having your own domain name (www.whatever.com) lends credibility as more of a professional site, and if your domain name is easy to remember then people are more likely to pass it along to their friends, if they like what they see.

A really good source for inexpensive web hosting is Bluehost.com - Only $6.95/Month - Free Domain - Free Setup! They offer everything you need for your web site or blog and it’s at a price that almost anyone can afford. What’s even better is that they allow up to six different domain names on their plans….so you could get together with other bloggers and chip in on hosting.  Six bloggers chipping in on one account is a little over $1 apiece per month.

Bluehost.com consistently ranks among the top hosting providers on the net. Reliable service, affordable plans and high customer satisfaction… Bluehost.com is definitely one of the strongest contenders in the hosting market today.

eXlinks - new linking system for blogs

October 25th, 2006

eXlinks is going to be launched soon…what is eXlinks you might ask…

It’s advertised as the "ultimate exponential link-swapping, site exploding system".

The best thing is that it’s free!  You can sign up now now before the launch to guarantee yourself a place in the beta release.

If you’ve got a blog and want more traffic it may be worth checking out, especially if you can get in early in the beta testing.

Cafe Press Shops with PrestoGifto

August 17th, 2006

CafePress ROCKS!  If you’re not familiar with CafePress, it’s a site where you can get anything you want printed on a t-shirt, mugs or a variety of other products. You can have a private shop and only print t-shirts for a family reunion, or you can create your very own line of customized products.

I decided that I’m going to feature some of the designs that I find on CafePress, and I’m doing so on my Featured CafePress Shops page. I know, what an original title…oh well, I may not be feeling very creative right now, but you can see the work of plenty of other talented people, and maybe even pick up a little present for yourself. ;-)

This shop was super easy to create because of an awesome plug-in, PrestoGifto!  If you’ve got a website or a blog and want to display anything from CafePress on it, this is the way to go. I think it’s still in the Beta stage, but even so….it seems ready for prime time to me.

Build your own Amazon store

July 18th, 2006

Build your own Amazon store

I came across this software and it is so cool! You can build your own customized Amazon store…and earn commissions with your Amazon.com affiliate ID. I downloaded the software and had a test store up and running (even modifying colors and options several times) in less than 30 minutes.

You can earn up to 10% selling Amazon.com items from your website using Associate-O-Matic!

Build a complete store with 1000’s of items in minutes. Convert more of your visitors to buyers. You keep 100% of referral commissions from your website/store. No technical expertise or programming required to setup. Target your store to the topics/categories you choose. Build a single store (or an unlimited number of stores) or add a shopping area to your existing website.

They offer a "Lite/Free" version which is nice, you keep 90% of the sales commissions…but if you do tend to recommend a lot of products from Amazon, it may be worth the $99 to upgrade to the full version. The full version comes with an actual shopping cart, so while readers browse your shop they can add items to their shopping cart, without ever leaving  your site. You also keep 100% of all sales commissions.

From what I’ve seen, Associate-O-Matic is definitely the easiest way to build a complete Amazon Affiliate Store. Check it out!
